Impact of the project for the friendly learning of mathematics in secondary education

This research has analyzed the impact of the project for the friendly learning of mathematics in secondary education (NICAMATE). This is research with a mixed approach based on a descriptive design with the effective participation of secondary school students from the seventh, eighth and ninth grades of the Hermanos Zamora de Ocotal Public School Center, Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua. In this context, different instruments were applied such as: surveys of teachers, interviews with students and the principal, likewise, pilot tests were applied to students, which made up a sample of 30 participants chosen for convenience, the academic record was also considered, particularly math grades from 2019 to 2021 and the first semester of 2022, for comparisons in terms of pass rate and academic performance. The main results show that the positive impact of the NICAMATE program and how it has come to contribute to educational quality from its beginnings in the piloting of 2018 to the present, the disposition of main actors in the classroom process being a key factor.

Bibliographical aspects in research on the concepts of infinity, limit, and derivative

The conceptual evolution from an educational perspective makes us identify different obstacles to the construction of concepts such as infinity and the concept of limit, the difficulties that students have to understand these concepts lead us to ask ourselves a series of questions that are part of the work of research in mathematics education, in this article the review of 15 selected articles is exposed, it begins with the exposition of the methods and instruments to select and search for the materials. Later the selected articles are listed, placing them in categories of analysis according to the depth of the aspect of investigation of each article finally, the results are presented, and situations found are argued combining different results, to present conclusions and perspectives that can be explored on the subject in the future.

State of the art on research in the resolution of logic and probability problems

This research has identified the state of the art on mathematical processes in solving logic and probability problems. This is a qualitative study, based on a hermeneutic approach where an analysis and review of scientific articles related to the teaching and learning of logic and probability in its epistemic, practical, and investigative facets corresponding to the period 2010-2022 is developed. The main result is the theoretical foundation of the cohesion between logic and probability categorized in the different facets and from this, it is concluded that it is necessary to classify the information because it implies the review of different bibliographic sources, a process that can be intricate due to the large number of Information available.

Algebra: A review from its bibliographic antecedents

This article focuses on the importance of algebra in current education through a qualitative study based on a hermeneutic approach. The analysis is based on the systematic review of 25 articles published in scientific journals between 2000 and 2022 on solving algebraic problems from an epistemic, practical, and investigative perspective. The study highlights the importance of different theoretical positions and teaching methods so that teachers find the one that best suits their students and the context where they are. It is concluded that teachers should propose problems that develop skills such as analysis, data interpretation, and teamwork to prepare students for more complex situations in and outside the classroom. The articles with the practical category propose activities to improve reasoning and algebraic thinking, which can help guide the study, prevent errors, and expand knowledge on the subject. On the other hand, the research category articles address the emergence of forms of algebraic thinking in young students and show evidence of their evolution. The cited authors agree that the development of algebraic thinking in primary school and the best treatment of algebra in secondary school are linked to the teacher’s performance and his ability to transform mathematical tasks towards the achievement of progressive levels. The problems and conflicts that exist in the management and application of textbooks and the use of technology in the teaching-learning process are highlighted. The study concludes by suggesting proposals to improve the quality of understanding and solving mathematical problems in different areas and scientific careers. In summary, the article highlights the importance of algebra in education today and suggests ways to improve the teaching and learning of this discipline.

Methodology for competency based learning

A Methodology for Competency-Based Learning is a proposal aimed at establishing a path that facilitates the process of assimilation of learning in the most creative way possible in terms of relevant training and practical usefulness for students. The composition of this methodology is based on elements that are concatenated forming an indissoluble unit and that are aimed at producing significant learning, which will be possible with the implementation of a methodology that responds to the needs that learning requires not only of Physics and Mathematics, but of any Science. It is important to point out that the information given by professors, students, and university authorities, to whom instruments were applied in this research work, as well as the documentary review, were valuable inputs that contributed to the construction of this Methodology for Competency-Based Learning, which reflects the rich experience that this work has meant. This study concluded that the methodologies by competencies are interesting, since they allow the construction of knowledge through experiences, to potentiate skills for the student’s professional performance.

Educate on the proper use of medications: Anthropological perspective and challenges

Medicines constitute a thing with a social life. Medicines evolve parallel to cultural, scientific, technological and global health advances. The generation and use of medicines respond to the social dynamics of spatiotemporal and cultural contexts. #is paper discusses medicines’ current social and cultural positioning from an anthropological perspective. Highlighting the presence of medicines in art, music, literature, advertising, and social media, aims to call for implementing health policies that promote the proper use of medicines and related products such as dietary and herbal supplements. Giving the entire population access to health education would guarantee good practice in the use of medicines. Educating for health demands a transversal analysis between knowledge of different social actors to restore the universality of the health concept. We discuss some necessary elements of this analysis in the final sections.
