Social representation of the process of regional autonomy of the Caribbean Coast Nicaragua
Abstract
In this article the social representation of the Regional Autonomy of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua was analyzed, from the perspective of the mass media, La Prensa and El Nuevo Diario. The methodology applied was a qualitative and descriptive design that highlighted the analysis and approach of the information, as it compared two years: 1990 and 2010, in a period of six months, in order to know the differences on the news that is disseminated. The instruments that we make use of were the hemerographic revision, the analysis of content and the application of targeted interviews. It has been shown that the autonomous regime, has not been a priority from the media agenda of the two national newspapers, whose publications don’t have as yet an appropriation of the autonomy, so it is necessary to share the vision of the Intercultural Communication, in order to create commitment from the national journalism aimed at the appropriate visibility of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua.
