Abstract

The world of the plant kingdom motivates and arouses curiosity in many people. However, it is an area of the biological sciences that many people are "afraid of”, since popular knowledge has generated the belief that it is an area for the "few" and that it is related to formal learning. There may be many stimuli to dabble in botany, but there are many more reasons to become unmotivated as students or learners. This essay provides ideas, concepts and recommendations to enter the exciting world of botany without dying in the attempt; it addresses: 1) Classification of plants, 2) Considerations to study the diagnostic characters, 3) Typical mistakes when entering botany, 4) Botanical Apps to learn informally through the Internet and finally there is a dialogue on green blindness or blindness to plants, getting closer to some approaches to overcome it as a barrier in the learning of botany.
